The fourth largest independent clinic system in the U.S. (40 locations and 750 physicians) faced a decline in market share: Between 2002 and 2006 consumer perceptions of the Clinic’s leadership had slipped dramatically and competitors were gaining at Marshfield’s expense. But the decline was reversed within 18 months after LSB repositioned the Clinic, increasing unique patient counts 4.4% to their highest level in Clinic history. An independent tracking study also showed the Clinic had closed the perception gap with its competitors by more than 12 points.
